Detailed Information

My mother, Rose Jaramillo, started this store on a risk and with the help of a small loan of $7000 from my grandfather.  She always dreamed of owning her own business and enjoyed creating jewelry.  She also had an eye for eclectic items to fill out the store and an amazing sense of humor.  So in 2003 she opened The Happy Hogan right here in Cave Creek, AZ.  Between her jewelry and dad’s metal and plaster wall art the two of them were able to provide themselves with a very stable living full of laughs and lots of memories.  Through these years she became a staple of Cave Creek while running the smallest store in town. In 2006 I moved from our home town of Chicago, Illinois to Arizona to spend more time with my parents.  From my perspective I owed it to them for providing my sisters and I with a wonderful childhood and I didn’t want to have regrets about not spending enough time with them as we all got older.  I found a place down the road from them and had a brief stint in the restaurant industry and also in the insurance industry.  At the same time I started helping mom with the jewelry and dad with his metal and plaster art in his art studio during my free time.  As mom and dad got older she asked me if I could help her around the shop every now and then and as more time passed on I spent more and more time there.

In 2017 I took over full time at our physical store in Cave Creek, AZ at the old west Frontier Town.  And now I’m ready to bring our products and our story online.  As a lot of our in-store customers will be able to testify to, a lot of the very items on this website were created by my late mom Rose.  And each of these pieces tells a story about some random day in our lives (probably on her kitchen counter) and I wanted to share these pieces of our lives with you while I continue to create some more lasting memories for us all in the days to come.
