Most of Cave Creek and areas on the outskirts of the Phoenix metro area are on a septic system. If you do not take care of it you could end up with a big mess.
Septic Do’s
1. Pump your tank every 4 years
2. If your tank is 2001 or newer you should have an effluent filter that needs to be cleaned once a year.
3. If you can’t see your tank lids you should install risers, the lids should be at ground level so you can avoid excavation charges.
4. Risers are 20 inches to 24 inches in diameter.
5. It is suggested to pump your tank before large gatherings or parties.
6. Make sure you know the location of your septic tank and leach system before landscaping and masonry walls and ect.
7. Stagger laundry , (don’t do 10 loads a day)
8. The only things that go in a septic tank is the 3 Ps (Pee,Poop and Paper)
Septic Don’ts
1. Do not pump your septic tank from a 6″ pipe, a 6″ pipe is not an approved riser.
2. Do not flush wipes down your tank, they do not dissolve.
3. Do not flush chemicals down your septic tank.
4. Do not flush grease down your septic tank.
5. Do not flush heavy food products down the garbage disposal, put it in the trash.
6. If you have a leaky toilet or fixture, repair it. it saves your septic system and saves water.
7. No sanitary napkins or tampons or condoms.
8. Do not flush your kitty litter.
9. Disposable diapers.
